As a proud father and mental health professional, James is dedicated to changing the narrative around student mental health on college campuses. His book reflects his clinical approach: addressing the root causes, not just the symptoms. With extensive experience overseeing mental health in higher education, James believes the transition from high school to college is a critical time to empower students to think more critically about their well-being. He introduces practical skills that will help them succeed not only in their first year but throughout college and beyond.
Marisa Papa, M.A.
Marketing Manager
Marisa has dedicated her career to developing and executing comprehensive marketing campaigns in higher education.
Marisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Communications and a Master of Art in Media Literacy and Digital Culture, with a focus on Children, Health & Media. She has presented research on gender and beauty stereotypes at national conferences and has shared her expertise as a guest lecturer in high school classrooms.
Marisa is currently pursuing a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree and is thrilled at the prospect of combining her passions of marketing and mental health through the Thrive Year One project. Marisa is responsible for designing the workbook and all accompanying marketing materials, breathing life into the brand identity.

Eric Torrens is a photographer and videographer who worked closely with the Thrive Year One team to produce compelling visuals that authentically brought their vision to life. Through his LLC, Echo Films, Eric partners with small businesses and brands to craft high-quality, impactful content that highlights their unique stories. His professional, collaborative approach ensures every project resonates deeply with its audience.
